BRITISH NORTHROP released details of their plan to establish an industrial estate at Blackburn in 1969.
This picture, taken on June 21, 1969, shows the 1,000,000 square feet of floorspace at the 24-acre site, which would be known as the Daisyfield Industrial Estate.
The area was described as one of the most important to be developed in recent times in the North West.
The group's subsidiary, Northrop Developments Ltd., created to handle the new estate, was letting 10 factory units, ranging from 20,000 to 184,000 feet.
A new internal road network would also be created to provide efficient circulation, loading and unloading facilities.
