THE chief constable for Lancashire Police has criticised Boris Johnson’s comments about investigating child abuse.
The Tory MP was discussing police numbers and investment during an interview on LBC Radio on Wednesday when he said money in investigating child abuse was “being s****** up the wall.”
During the interview, Mr Johnson also said: “I think an awful lot of the money, an awful lot of police time, now goes into these historic offences and all this malarkey.”
Mr Rhodes criticised the former London mayor for his comments.
He said: “Investigating child abuse whenever it occurred is the most valuable work we do and most definitely not a waste of money. Fact not opinion.”
During the radio interview Mr Johnson, Uxbridge and South Ruislip’s MP, added: “Keeping numbers high on the streets is certainly important. But the question is where you spend the money and where you deploy the officers.”
