A NEW children's play area costing £120,000 is set to open in a historic park.
Milnshaw Park in Accrington will soon be the home to a new play area, which will bring an aerial runway, basket swing and roundabout for children to play on.
There will also be a dedicated space for toddlers where there will be a climbing structure in the shape of a train.
Councillor Paul Cox, a member of Milnshaw Residents Association, explained that building the play area was only one part of a larger project for the area.
He said: "Providing the new play area within Milnshaw Park compliments other recent improvements to the park including a large multi-use games area.
"This new addition is part of a long term plan to improve the park for the local community and one we’ve been working on for many years."
The Hyndburn Green Spaces Forum, who work closely with Hyndburn Borough Council, have secured a grant from the Lancashire Environmental Fund for £30,000 for the space. Hyndburn Council will foot the rest of the bill.
