POLICE are searching for two men who have gone on the run while on probation.

Stuart Johnson, 29, and James Butterworth, 36, are wanted on recall to prison.

They absconded from a probation hostel in Accrington around 4pm on Thursday.

Johnson, from Scotland, is white, 6ft tall, of medium build with short ginger hair and blue eyes.

He was sentenced to four years in prison with an extended four years on licence for a knifepoint robbery in Blackpool in 2014.

Butterworth is white, 5ft 11in tall, of stocky build, with dark-brown hair and blue eyes.

He has a Celtic band tattoo at the top of his right arm. He had been sentenced to two years and four months in prison in 2017 for two assaults.

Johnson has links to Blackpool and Scotland, while Butterworth has links to Blackburn, Accrington and Rishton.

Polic are advising people not to approach the men but to contact them.

PC Emlyn Parry said: “Both Johnson and Butterworth are wanted by police on prison recall.

“We would urge anyone who has seen them, or knows about their whereabouts, to contact police immediately. Both men should not be approached.”
