A WAGES claim by the East Lancashire based businessman Karl Oyston against Blackpool FC has been postponed.

The Lancashire Telegraph revealed earlier this week that Mr Oyston had lodged a case for lost salary, effectively against his own father Owen.

Employment tribunal officials in Manchester have confirmed that the claim, which had been set down for a two-day hearing, has been delayed.

The 51-year-old, who lives in Newton-in-Bowland, was chairman of The Seasiders from 1999 to February 2018.

He quit following a High Court ruling that he and his father had been guilty of "illegitimately stripping" the club's assets following their season in the Premier League in 2010/11.

That verdict ultimately led to another High Court appearance last week, when receivers were appointed to sell the club in order to settle the Oystons' £25million debt to former club president Valeri Belokon.

Receivers David Rubin and Paul Cooper are set to formally take over at Bloomfield Road in the next 48 hours.

It is not known when the relationship between father and son started to unravel but they have been in open dispute since Belokon started legal proceedings against them in early 2017.
