A 29-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested following a car crash in the early hours of Friday morning.
The woman, from Blackburn, remains in custody having been arrested in suspicion of drink or drug driving.
Pictures taken at the scene on Preston New Road show a badly-damaged car and destroyed traffic island. Further pictures show a fallen lamppost and glass littering the road.
There were no other vehicles involved in the accident and parts of the carriageway were closed as police dealt with the incident and a clean-up operation took place.
A traffic diversion was put in place.
A police spokesman confirmed a woman had been arrested.
She said: "We were called at 12.45am to reports of a single vehicle collision on Preston New Road, Blackburn.
"A 29-year-old woman from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of drink or drug driving and is currently in custody."
