A LARGE group of youths causing chaos in a town centre have been damaging cars and vehicles.
Officers in Burnley warned last night, Monday 11, that police patrols in the town had been increased to deal with the problem.
As well as damaging a number of cars and buildings, the group of 12-18 year-olds were seen ripping up plants in the town and behaving abusively towards anyone who challenged them.
A police spokesman said: "We have had a number of incidents tonight around Burnley town centre involving youths aged between 12 to 18 years.
"These incidents have involved criminal damage to vehicles and buildings. The plants around the centre are being ripped up and thrown around, together with general abusive behaviour towards anyone who has challenged them.
"Police patrols are being increased to deal with this problem."
