A SUPPORTERS' meeting at Kendal Town FC scheduled for tonight has been cancelled amid fears of 'threats made to volunteers and members', according to the club.
The meeting was arranged to allay fears from fans amid a glut of players and boss Dave Foster leaving.
There have been calls for chairman George Gudgeon to quit and fans have arranged a protest march from the town centre to the ground ahead of Saturday's Evo-Stik League game with Glossop.
A statement on the club's social media channels, released at lunchtime, confirmed the news saying their were 'unable to guarantee the safety' of members.
The statement read: "It is with the utmost regret that after much deliberation and after taking advice tonight's Fans Meeting has been cancelled.
"The Club's Management Committee, against the backdrop of physical threats to its volunteers and members, are unable to guarantee their safety.
"Kendal Town fans, volunteers and members will always be our top priority.
"It is hoped that at some future date the meeting can be rearranged, meanwhile the club will issue a further Statement regarding the Club's position in due course."
