A SHEEP caught in a three-foot slurry pit had to be rescued by fire fighters.
The animal got stuck in the manure pit after a farmer left it out on his field on Long Causeway in Burnley at 1pm today.
Seven fire fighters helped free the little sheep, which took them only 20 minutes.
The sheep was not injured during the incident. A fire services spokesman said: “It wasn’t hurt at all, in fact it wandered off all happily after It was released from the slurry with no issues.”
The RSPCA were also in attendance, with fire teams from both Burnley and Nelson.
