After a visit to Blackburn on their royal tour of Lancashire in 1913, King George V and Queen Mary stopped by at Darwen where they were greeted on a garlanded platform outside the town’s civic buildings.
Seen near the centre of the picture, the royal couple were about to depart on another leg of their week-long tour.
