A MAN was taken to hospital after a car crash last night.

Police were called to Blackburn Road, Accrington, following a crash involving a Vauxhall Zafira and BMW at around 10.20pm.

One of the drivers received first aid from firefighters until ambulance crews.

The man, suffered minor chest injuries, was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to Blackburn Road, Accrington, at 10.17pm.

"Two vehicles collided close to the carpet shop and a man sustained minor injuries."

A fire service spokesman added: "Fire crews from Hyndburn were called to a road traffic collision on Blackburn Road, Accrington which involved two vehicles.

"Firefighters assisted one casualty with first aid at the scene until the arrival of ambulance crews."

An ambulance spokesman said: "A male patient had chest injuries and was taken to hospital."
