TWO brothers from Darwen, who are wearing shorts throughout winter in memory of their mum, got to meet two of their footballing heroes at the weekend.

Tom, 10, and Jack Mayoh, eight, carried out a bucket collection before kick-off at Ewood Park on Saturday, and appeared on the pitch at half-time alongside Rovers stars, Bradley Dack and Danny Graham.

After the death of their mum, Louise, in July, the boys decided to raise money for the East Lancashire Hospice who helped care for her in her final weeks. Originally setting a target of £1,000, Tom and Jack found the donations just kept flooding in, so in November they increased their target to £6,000.

However, the siblings smashed the £16k mark last week, leading Jack to increase the target to a whopping £20,000. And after Saturday's pitch appearance, it seems the lads are well on their way to achieving it.

Writing on Twitter, dad, Gareth Mayoh said: "Thanks to Rovers for inviting Tom and Jack to the ground last Sat to collect for East Lancs Hospice, raising over £1000, taking their total to £18,000 raised so far."
