TWO puppies were rushed to the vets after they were found abandoned in a skip in Penrith.

The young puppies were found yesterday (Jan 22) and taken to Rowcliffe House Vets, on the Crown Square, where they will receive treatment and a bit of tender loving care before being re-homed.

A spokesperson from the veterinary centre said that the pups were happy and bright considering the cold and dangerous weather conditions they were left in.

"They will be staying with us for a few days to receive veterinary treatment and then they will be off to start their new lives which will be full of love," they said.

They added that the puppies were lucky to have been found when they were and advised residents that if they had a pet that they could no longer care for to do the right thing and hand then into a rescue centre.
