ONE school in East Lancashire has been forced to close its doors this morning following a night of freezing temperatures.
Newfield School on Old Bank Lane in Blackburn has announced it will not open today, with a spokesman saying: "Snow has fallen extensively overnight and covered the site, which has then frozen over.
"The site team have been working since very early trying to clear the site, but it is not clear enough to be safe for pupils to come onto the school site.
"The site team continue to attempt to clear the site and school will be open for staff from 10am.
"Please take care when driving and keep warm."

A yellow weather warning is expected to remain in place throughout the day and into the evening as icy conditions continue.
Traffic is slow in certain areas this morning, though no accidents have been reported.
Side roads throughout the valley are becoming increasingly inaccessible due to snow fall and ice. If you need to venture out this evening please drive carefully, Officers are out and about if you do need us, woollen hats and gloves at the ready!
