TWO men arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a grandmother was found in a house remain in custody this afternoon, police have confirmed.
The men, aged 38 and 39 and both from Burnley, were arrested in Wythenshaw on Tuesday on suspicion of murdering 40-year-old Leanne Unsworth..
Ms Unsworth was found dead in a house in Marlborough Street in 7.15pm on Monday.
A police spokesman confirmed that officers had applied for more time to question the suspects and that was continuing today.
A post mortem examination has revealed the cause of Ms Unsworth's death to be head injuries.
On Wednesday Ms Unsworth's family released a statement in which they said: "Leanne was a well loved daughter, mum, niece and grandma who will be sadly missed. As a family we are trying to come to terms with this tragedy and kindly ask that you respect our wishes for privacy."
