A FORMER office is set to be transformed into a bathroom and kitchen showroom under new plans.

Pure Style Bathrooms and Kitchens plans to turn the old offices of Hyndburn Homes into a showroom on land off Hyndburn Road, Accrington.

Based in Bolton Road, Darwen, Pure has outgrown its premises and enjoyed two years of successful trading, and now seeks an additional site to expand its business.

The offices have lain empty since August 2017.

Applicants Barnfield Construction Ltd, who are the freehold owners of the building and who have submitted a change of use application to Hyndburn Council, said in planning documents: “We wish to enter into a proposed lease with a tenant (Pure Bathrooms), for the creation of a new Accrington bathroom showroom.

“The property was formerly the office of Hyndburn Homes and has lain empty since August 2017.

“It is submitted that this application represents a cogent and sustainable use of the site, puts to good and justified use a currently vacant site on an arterial route into Accrington, and that will lead to employment and diversified growth within the area.”

The application would also lead to jobs being created, with one additional full-time and one part-time job being created.

Pure employs four full-time staff and two part-time staff.

The new site’s opening hours would be 10am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm on Saturday, while it would be closed on Sundays and bank holidays.

Barnfield said there was no similar business in the town.

They added: “Pure Bathrooms is a well-established business.

“Following an upturn in the economy and two years of successful trading, the business has outgrown its existing premises and seeks an additional site.

“As the owner lives in Accrington, Pure Bathrooms wishes to open a new showroom in his local town.

“The proposal would see a new bathroom showroom for which there is no such similar existing similar business located within the town centre.

“It is unlikely to attract trade away from the town centre, as say, a convenience store could potentially do,” Barnfield added.
