A ROOSTER went on the run, entertaining neighbours as he hit the streets.

Owned by Mrs Lynzii Mahmood, of Little Princess Street, Great Harwood, Chim the rooster caused quite a spectacle as he was filmed running across a road before being found,.

Chim is one of three roosters that Mrs Mahmood bought when they were eight weeks old.

Now age two, they are known for escaping her home’s back yard, returning towards evening.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Mrs Mahmood said: “They take themselves out over the wall every morning and roam streets as far as three streets away. Then, they meet up with another two chickens that roam free, go to my friend’s yard for breakfast and then garden-hop until sundown.”

The roosters are popular with Mrs Mahmood’s two children, four-year-old Inayah and two-year-old Keyaan, who both love being chased by them. Chim and the other two roosters are also known to skip into the back garden of Mrs Mahmood’s friend, who feeds them seeds every morning.

The birds have been running around during the day ever since Mrs Mahmood’s own rooster started the trend. Explaining when this happened, she said: “Mine was the first to leave home. He was the first going out every day.

“I’d have a search party out looking for him as he’s cared for dearly. There were kids, neighbours, even people who were just passing through looking for him.

“After hours of searching and him ignoring us, I found him in a back yard under a tree. This is where he met the other two free-roamers.

“My friend throws them seed, bread and rice and then they’re back off on their way. Probably won’t be long before they venture further but they come home every night unless it’s dark and they get lost.

“They don’t always stay together they go on their own missions and come home on their own unless it’s when I call them they then all come home as a pack. I go the gate and shout them, and they run home.

“If they’re on the next street or the top of the street, they will come to my call, but any further we have to shout either from the next street or go further too.

“There are too many stories, and everyone just loves them. They’re so funny.”
