A FUNDRAISING page which was set-up following the death of a Rishton teenager has raised almost £1,600 to help pay for funeral costs.

More than 60 of Cian Proctor’s friends and family have also signed up to take part in a series of charity football matches, which will take place this weekend with the hope of raising more funds to support the teenager’s family.

The news that Cian had died came just hours after he had been reported missing. The 18-year-old’s body was found in secluded woodland on January 8 and police have since confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstance surrounding his death.

Daryl Graham, who has organised the charity football, confirmed that four games will be played on Saturday at Fennyfold playing fields in Padiham.

He said: “So far for this weekend we have four games of football, drone footage, nail-painting and glitter tattoos.

“Plans are still underway for the after-event which will be held at the Shakespeare pub in Padiham.”

A raffle and pool tournament will go ahead at the pub with those wishing to play asked to each contribute £10. All money raised on the GoFundMe page and over the weekend will go to Cian’s family.

Paying tribute to her son over the weekend, Cian’s mother, Victoria Proctor, said: “I cannot put in to words how very proud I am of you. You are my baby.

“You were the last to be born and the smallest of you all. From day one I loved you with all my heart.

“You always give 100 per cent in everything you do. Your willpower is phenomenal, and please could you give me some right now.

“I thought I had felt every pain possible, but now I know I haven’t.

“You are such a loved person, and I only wish you could have loved yourself the way everyone else does.

“ I know you’re in a better place, but that doesn’t stop me wanting you here.”

Cian’s family said that his funeral will take place at St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Rishton with details of date and time expected in the coming days.
