EMERGENCY services were rushed to a terraced house after receiving reports a bedroom was on fire.

Firefighters from Burnley and Nelson were called to the the blaze at the property in Gordon Street, Burnley, at around 1.50pm on Wednesday.

On arrival, crews found a fire in one of the upstairs bedrooms, and four firefighters in breathing apparatus were sent into the house with a hosereel in order to extinguish the fire.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "The fire was contained to one bedroom and firefighters managed to extinguish the flames before it spread to the rest of the house.

"Crews remained at the scene until later on Wednesday afternoon to ensure the property was made safe."

The occupants of the house had managed to escape before the fire service arrived and no injuries were reported.

It is not known how the fire started but crews used a Thermal Imaging Camera to help identify any heat spots and the cause of the blaze is now under investigation.
