A DRUG dealer who attempted to sell crack cocaine on the streets of East Lancashire has been jailed.
Preston Crown Court heard how Kamaran Hayat, 22, of Walsh Street, Blackburn, was caught with several wraps of the class A drug in Audley Range on October 1.
He was also found with cash and a phone containing text messages linked to drug dealing.
Hayat appeared before Recorder Tom Gilbart at the court last month and pleaded guilty to a single count of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine.
On Friday Recorder Neville Biddle jailed him for two years.
A police spokesman said: “On October1 Kamaran Hayat, 22, from Audley Range, Blackburn, was arrested by officers from the targeted crime team on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, namely crack cocaine.
“Hayat was found in possession of several wraps of crack cocaine, cash and a dealer phone.
“Hayat pleaded guilty to the offence at Preston Crown Court and was given a two-year prison sentence.
“Although we can’t be everywhere and catch everyone we will continue to try our best to proactively target drug dealers.”
