A SON died after falling down the stairs of his parents' house, an inquest heard.

David Walker, who lived with his mother, father and brother, was found dead at the Burnley home on October 27.

Preston Coroners Court heard Mr Walker's brother was the last to see the 48-year-old alive at the house, on Berry Street, at around 11pm on October 26.

When Mr Walker's father got up at 5am the next day he discovered his son lying at the bottom of the stairs.

Mr Walker, who had been drinking cider before he died, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The unwitnessed fall was believed to have been heard by a neighbour, who said they heard a loud bang at 3.15am on October 27.

The court heard Mr Walker had serious health problems with poor circulation and high blood pressure. Mr Walker had also fallen a few times in the past.

Recording a conclusion of accidental death, Mr Taylor said: "Mr Walker died from an unwitnessed fall downstairs and the injuries are consistent with that."
