BLACKBURN and Accrington have been named as two of the worst places to live in the UK by a controversial website.
The iLiveHere site published its annual top 10 list yesterday.
Thousands of voters were asked to include their own views of the towns where they live for the 12th annual poll.
Accrington finished in eighth and was labelled a "dump". Blackburn came ninth in the list.
Contributors comments about Blackburn were equally offensive.
One contributor wrote: "If you live here, I’m sorry for you – and if you haven’t ever been here, then stay away."
Another wrote: "You can guarantee if you dare to walk down these downtrodden estates, you will almost certainly spot the inhabitants walking freely in dressing gowns and fluffy slippers."
Another comment compared the town to the TV show Shameless.
Huddersfield was named the worst place to live in the UK.
Second and third went to Rotherham and Liverpool respectively.
