Advent really means getting ready for an event.

The photograph here shows myself with two members of WOSP Day Services in Kendal, who got us ready for Christmas with a wonderfully robust Santa!

All of Cumbria Day Services had a stall at a recent event at Kendal. If you wish to order your own Santa or Christmas Tree contact 01229 586404.

Here is some guidance for looking after yourself during the festive season and for 2019.

There are a number of steps you can take to ensure that you are ready for Christmas in good health by taking a number of steps to get active.

First, make sure you eat well and make positive steps to push away bad habits that don't serve you well.

Take the stairs rather than the lift; take your dog for a walk and definitely do more dancing over the festive season.

But why stop there? You can adopt these practices al-year-round.

Your pharmacist can help with lifestyle changes, such as weight management services and stop smoking services.

Rest, too, is important so get a good night's sleep when needed.

Find time to simply stop and quieten your mind. Mindfulness or yoga can be really helpful when it comes to reducing overall stress and improving your sleep patterns.

Some films are now on the web, placed there by my chum Andy Knox, which give lots of tips.

You can look for them on https://www.morecambebayccg.nhs.uk/your-health/self-care.

My final top tip is to make sure that your medicine cupboard is well stocked and that any repeat medicines are ordered in good time.

A the best to everyone from all here in Ulverston!
