THOUSANDS of people braved a drizzly Saturday to ensure Kirkby Lonsdale's annual Christmas Fair got off to a festive start.
The popular event saw the Market Square once again taken over by a chalet village with traders selling a host of crafts, gifts, warming drinks and seasonal snacks.
Carols were sung by Sedbergh Prep School Chamber Choir, and instrumental entertainment was performed by Batala Lancaster drummers, St Andrew's Pipe Band from Barrow-in-Furness and Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band.
On Sunday a Christmas market was held in Lunesdale Hall and the crowds once again gathered for Father Christmas's parade.
Meanwhile, in St Mary's Parish Church there was a bric-a-brac sale, unwrapping of Advent children's crafts and songs from Sing Joyfully and Kirkby Lonsdale Singers, led by Anastasia Micklethwaite.
Shops and cafes were heaving with customers throughout the event, which organisers declared a great success.
