THREE lots of land and property near Millom, on the edge of the Lake District National Park, fetched and exceeded their guide prices at auction.

The public sale at Victory Hall, Broughton-in-Furness, saw 12 acres of land at Gornal Ground, near Thwaites, sell for £70,000 - above the guide price, at just over £5,700 per acre.

Bridge End Barn near Hallthwaites sold to a neighbouring property owner for £80,000.

Meanwhile, a 12-acre woodland at Gornal Ground sold well above the guide price of £50,000 to £60,000 - achieving £6,480 per acre, a total of £81,000.

Mark Barrow, associate and chartered surveyor for H&H Michael C L Hodgson, said: “Despite the Brexit uncertainty and lateness in the year, property sales and the market for these types of rural properties in particular are buoyant and demand is certainly not diminishing."

He said the firm was already receiving entries for its spring and summer 2019 sales.
