THOUSANDS turned out for Burnley's Remembrance Day service and march.

The town's Bishop the Rt Rev Phil North conducted the service at the Peace Garden in Croft Street after the 4th Battalion of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment led a procession f rom Curzon Street.

He spoke of the sacrifices made in the First and Seconds World Wars and spoke of his hopes for a peaceful and just future.

At 10.35am there was a parade through Burnley town centre to the Peace Garden.

At 11am a Service of Remembrance was led by the Bishop of Burnley, the Rt Rev Philip North followed by wreath-laying followed by parade past the main entrance of the police station where the Commanding Officer of the 4th Battalion of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment took 'The Salute'.

At Towneley Park the Mayor of Burnley Cllr Charles Briggs laid a wreath on the town’s Cenotaph.

And Padiham's Mayor Cllr Andy Tatchell led commemorations at the town's war memorial at 11am.
