A HIGH END jewellers will open its new flagship store in The Mall shopping centre in Blackburn.

Peter Jackson The Jeweller has moved within The Mall Blackburn to the unit formerly occupied by Ed’s Easy Diner, double the size of its existing outlet.

Legends from Rovers' famous 1994/95 Premier League winning team will cut the ribbon opening the new store at noon on Friday.

They will be joined by stars from Sleeping Beauty, this year’s King George’s Hall pantomime.

Shoppers at the new unit tomorrow and on Saturday will be able to sample complimentary Champagne and be given keys to try unlocking a treasure chest containing £1,000 worth of jewellery, watches and other prizes.

Peter Jackson opened his jewellery firm’s Mall store, one of five across the North-West, in 1988.

He said: "Blackburn has a special place in our hearts and we have built a reputation for quality, value and personal service that continues to grow.

“We are now selling engagement rings to people who we sold Christening gifts for.

“We are very pleased to be continuing our investment in Blackburn. It is a really exciting place to be right now.

“The new location is fantastic, it’s in the fashion sector of The Mall which is one of the busiest areas.

“We have been in The Mall Blackburn for the last 30 years and we’re the oldest independent retailer, a commitment we have reaffirmed with his huge new store.”

Loraine Jones, The Mall’s general manager said: “It’s wonderful to see Peter Jackson go from strength to strength.”

Peter Jackson The Jeweller has close ties with Blackburn Rovers FC. It was located in The Mall when the shopping centre was only partially covered."

Blackburn was the second shop to be opened in the Peter Jackson portfolio, which was first launched in Preston; there are also stores in Bury and Carlisle.
