FIVE trees have been planted in Colne's Alkincoats Park as part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy.
They were part of a forest conservation initiative to mark Elizabeth II's lifetime of service.
The trees - two silver birch, two rowan, and a hazel – were planted with the assistance of Pendle Borough Council and the Friends of Alkincoats Park.
Friday's event was attended by Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson, one of 508 elected Parliamentarians to take part in the initiative.
The trees were given to the government whip by the Woodland Trust, Sainsbury’s and ITV which in April screened a documentary 'The Queen's Green Planet' highlighting the project which brings together Her Majesty's commitment to the Commonwealth and her love of trees.
The MP said: “This is a wonderful initiative."
