MP Graham Jones has laid responsibility for attacks on Saudi targets with Iran-backed rebels - and likened them to the Nazi V2 attacks in the Second World War.
The Hyndburn politician has condemned Tehran's Ansar Allah forces. amid continuing unease over the Saudi role in the Yemeni civil war.
Critics have rounded on the kingdom for a deadly attack on a bus carrying schoolchildren and his leader, Jeremy Corbyn has signalled Labour would halt Saudi arms sales if elected.
But Mr Jones, chairman of the Commons Committee on Arms Export Controls, has described the Houthi group as "the greatest threat on the planet now" and insisted the road to peace lay with halting their advance.
He told Radio 4's Today programme: "Ansar Allah, in my view, represent the greatest threat on the planet now in the way that they are trying to take over the Yemeni government ... apart from environmental issues."
Mr Jones said while Britain had faced being bombarded with 2,000 V2 rockets during the Second World War, the Saudis had been hit by 200 long-range Iranian-made missiles.
The Saudis have been under pressure since the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.
