A TEN-week-old puppy who was found under a bush with wounds all over her body had to be put to sleep.
The dog was found hiding in some bushes on Warwick Close in Accrington and was put down on veterinary advice.
The female dark brindle and white bull breed had several large open wounds all over her body, thought to be a result of her lymph glands bursting open because of septicaemia due to a possible bacterial infection.
She was also underweight and had an injured paw.
RSPCA inspector Nina Small said: “This poor puppy was in an absolutely shocking state.
“She had large holes all over her body, was underweight and had a paw injury.
“It seems likely that she was dumped as a result.
“She was in such a suffering state that the vet decided the kindest thing to do was to put her to sleep.”
Anybody who has any specific information on the puppy which may help the RSPCA with their investigation is asked to call the RSPCA appeal line on 03001238018, asking for Inspector Small.
