ACCRINGTON Stanley booked their place in the Lancashire Senior Cup semi-finals thanks to a 3-0 win over Bury.

Jordan Clark, Connor Hall and Piero Mingoia were on the scoresheet for the Reds at Bury’s Carrington training ground.

Clark, who missed Saturday’s home draw with Portsmouth through suspension, was named on the bench but came on as an early substitute for Andy Mangan.

And his impact was immediate as, after being brought down on the edge of the 18-yard box, the winger then recovered to fire the free kick through the wall and past goalkeeper Matthew Hudson.

Hall was then quick off the mark to double the lead just after the half-hour.

Mingoia’s initial shot from distance was parried by Hudson, but Hall reacted smartly to convert the rebound to make it 2-0 at the break.

Mingoia eventually did add his name to the scoresheet. Two minutes into the second half he latched on to a throughball down the left and fired low past the goalkeeper to see off the defending champions.

Meanwhile, Seamus Conneely stepped up his comeback from injury.
