A NELSON man was attacked by a group of 'heavy set' men in Preston.
The 21-year-old was walking close to the train station when the assault took place in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police are now appealing for information on the incident.
A spokesman for the force said: “It happened at around 6:21am as the victim, a 21-year-old man from Nelson, was walking close to Preston Train Station.
"He had been approached by a group of heavy set men and knocked to the floor where he was hit to the face."
DC Andy Forsyth from Preston CID added: “We are trying to piece together exactly what has happened to this man and why, so we would appreciate anyone who may have witnessed the assault or the group of men walking through the city centre to get in touch.”
