RSPCA officers and residents launched a rescue mission to try and free a terrified cat that found itself in a tricky situation.
A cat was found wedged upside down in a three inch gap between a brick wall and the footings for a conservatory.
The cat's owner, from Shap, was alerted to his pets plight after hearing the cat's screams and reached out to the RSCPA for help.
Animal welfare officer (AWO) Graham Carter attended the scene and realised the only way they would be able to rescue the cat would be to knock a couple of bricks out to create a hole large enough to pull the animal out.
"The cat had no way out so we had to intervene" said Mr Carter. "It took a long time but after two hours we managed to reach the cat and get her free."
A spokesperson from the RSPCA said the cat was a little wobbly on her legs and quite exhausted, but she wasn't injured and was returned to her owners.
