A MAN suffered a broken jaw when he was attacked by three men.

Police have appealed for information after the man was attacked while walking with his friend and two dogs in Queen Victoria Street in Blackburn.

The incident took place between 4.30pm and 6pm on Sunday, but officers have only just released the appeal.

Police said the three men, believed to be in their 20s, drove past the victim in a dark coloured car, possibly a Ford Fiesta, before turning down Mill Hill street and getting out the car.

They approached the victim and his friend and punched him once on the left side of his face.

He suffered a broken jaw and needed surgery.

Detective constable Fiona Hall, said: "This has been a serious assault which has left the victim with a serious facial injury.

"We’re working to establish who is responsible, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“This has happened in daylight in a busy part of town.

"If you saw anything suspicious, we need you to let us know."
