EVERYONE is reminded to visit their nearest library and take part in 'get online week'.

Libraries across the county are focusing on helping improve their online skills this week.

There will be sessions for beginners and confident users and they will be supported by staff to learn more and advance their skills.

Lancashire County Cllr Peter Buckley, cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: "Although many people enjoy the benefits of using the internet, there are still many adults in Lancashire who have never been online.

"Get online week offers a superb opportunity for people to get familiar with modern technology and start enjoying all the advantages of life online.

"Digital skills are increasingly important in every aspect of our lives, from job opportunities, education and entertainment, to using services and shopping.

"It doesn't matter whether you'll be getting online for the first time or looking to learn more.

"I would really encourage anyone to go along to one of the friendly sessions at your nearest library and start getting online, and maybe do more with your skills."

People do not need to have a tablet device to sign up to one of the courses, but if they own one they can bring it to the sessions.

The free sessions do not require booking and a full list of events are available on the Lancashire County Council's website.
