TWO people have been taken to hospital following a crash on Mellor Lane in Blackburn. 

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 1.30am to reports two vehicles had crashed. 

The occupant of one car, thought to be the driver, had to be cut out of his vehicle by fire crews before he was taken to hospital. 

Another person was also treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital. 

The full extent of their injuries is currently unknown. 

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "We attended a road traffic collision at 1.30am this morning. There were two casualties, one of which was trapped.

"Two crews from Blackburn attended and used hydraulic equipment to cut the man from his car.

"Ambulance and paramedics were on hand to assist."
