TWO fire crews from Blackburn helped with a fire in a derelict building in Turton last night.

The incident happened on Broadhead Road at 0.56am to the building near a farm house.

A Lancashire Fire Service spokesman said: "Two fire engines and crews from Blackburn and one engine and crew from Bolton were assigned to a fire in a derelict building.

"Due to the distance of the fire from a water source a ‘water relay’ was set up to pump water from a fire engine nearest the source to another, then to the engine nearest the fire.

"Firefighters used a hosereel jet to extinguish the fire, the cause of which is to be established.

"There were no casualties or injuries to livestock."
