Engineers are on their way to fix the problem but 457 properties in the Peel Street area are affected according to Electricity North West officials.

Warning have been issued by the Met Office as Storm Callum brings strong winds and rain today.

On the Met Office website, forecasters issued a yellow warning for the 'spell of windy weather is expected on Friday associated with Storm Callum'.

They says that there may be some 'delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely'

Also there may be delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

In some cases 'short term loss of power and other services is possible.'

There is also another yellow warning for rain.

Forecasters say 'there is a chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings, the greatest likelihood being in parts of south Wales and southwest England

"Spray and flooding is likely to lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

"Where flooding occurs, there is a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

It is expected that it will last throughout most of the day.

" We are also starting to see the rain push in to parts of south-west England and part of the Republic of Ireland," Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkhill said.

"We've got a wind warning which covers all the western side of the UK. That in itself is likely to bring disruption to roads and there is likely to be some bridge closures and power outages.

"We also have yellow and amber warnings of between 50mm and 150mm of rain for Wales. That's quite a substantial amount of rain to come and could bring flooding."
