HEAVY delays are likely on a major Blackburn route after a fault was found on a high-voltage cable.
Electricity North West are on site at Accrington Road/Shadsworth Road/Whitebirk Road to repair the fault.
The works are likely to take a week and three-way temporary traffic lights will be put in place.
A spokesman for Blackburn with Darwen Roads said: "Initial excavations have indicated that further works are required which will involve digging across Accrington Road to Whitebirk Road, which will require multi-way temporary traffic lights.
"This is currently being arranged, and is likely to be in place later today/tomorrow morning for approximately a week.
"Traffic management will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm to minimise the impact to motorists, but given the heavy volume of traffic using this junction, delays are inevitable.
"It is advised that traffic seeks alternative routes where possible."
