George Michael is being lined up as a judge on American X Factor, it has been claimed.
The Sun said that Simon Cowell offered the former Wham! star, 47, a deal worth more than £1 million for the role, which would see him take a place alongside Cheryl Cole, 27, after the TV boss visited the singer at his home in November.
The newspaper quoted a source as saying: "George is going to take the job. It's an amazing opportunity to get back in the limelight and reverse his recent bad spell. Simon knows that Americans love him. He is as big in the US as he is over here."
The report follows news that Noel Gallagher, 43, has been approached about a judging role. The former Oasis star is said to be still considering the offer.
The role would come after a troubled year for George, including time in jail for drug-driving. The singer has appeared on the British version of The X Factor, singing a duet with winner Joe McElderry during last year's final.
