John McGuinness' challenge for the 2008 Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship will have to wait another two weeks as heavy snowfall at Brands Hatch resulted in the opening round being postponed.
The weather had steadily worsened over the course of the three days but while free practice and qualifying took place without problems, the paddock awoke on Sunday morning to steady snow showers which got heavier as the morning progressed.
Eventually the organisers were left with no option other than to cancel the day's events.
McGuinness says: "After having enjoyed such an excellent qualifying session, no one was as disappointed as me when we pulled back the curtains but the weather forecasters were spot on.
"There was no way any racing was going to take place."
The opening round of the British Supersport Championship will now take place at Thruxton on Sunday April 20.
