ASHWELL Prince has reversed his decision to retire and will return to Lancashire for the 2015 season.

The 37-year-old announced in March that he was retiring from the game but then in September revealed he was considering a u-turn.

He has now told Lancashire’s new head coach and director of cricket Ashley Giles that he will be back for the Red Rose next year Prince appeared in 66 Test matches for South Africa, as well as 52 one-day internationals and one T20 international.

The left-handed batsman passed 16,000 first-class runs last year and made a career best 257 not-out against Northants in June.

Prince was Lancashire’s overseas player for the 2009, 2010 and 2012 seasons, and last year marked his fourth campaign at Old Trafford, but this time he was back as a Kolpak player.

He will carry the same status for his fifth season with the county and will play a big role as they seek an immediate return to the County Championship’s top division.
