GARRY Flitcroft says he is delighted to have snapped up prolific striker Adam Roscoe from Radcliffe Borough as he bids to push Chorley towards the Evo-Stik First Division North title.

The one-time former Everton starlet returned to Victory Park three years after he quit the Magpies and went to live in Australia – and Flitcroft was quick to sign a player who had always impressed him.

Roscoe followed former Macclesfield centre back Andy Teague into the club as Flitcroft aims to lead a push for glory in the final third of the season.

Chorley lost ground on Chester when they drew with Witton – but Roscoe is seen as just the man to keep the Magpies in the hunt.

“We needed a striker with a bit of presence to give us something different up front, and Adam fits the bill,” said Flitcroft.

“Whenever he’s played against one of my teams in the past, he’s caused us problems.”

On returning to England, Roscoe enjoyed a prolific spell at Radcliffe, scoring 17 goals last season to finish as the club’s top scorer.

Flitcroft added: “When I spoke to him, he was desperate to come back.

“He gives us a different option up front, which will be important during the run-in.”

The capture of Teague from Lancaster is a boost for Flitcroft, who added: “Andy is one of the best defenders in this league and has the ability to play at a higher level.”

The loss of Teague was a big blow to the Dolly Blues and former Chorley chief Tony Hesketh, who also lost ex-Morecambe winger Paul Jarvis to AFC Fylde, who are in second spot.

Meanwhile, Jerome Fitzgerald’s parent club Guiseley have agreed to extend the defender’s loan spell with the Magpies until April 9.
