AJMAL Shahzad believes Lancashire will hit back from last week’s narrow CB40 loss when they take on Worcestershire Royals at Old Trafford today.

Shahzad has revealed that the squad and coaching staff have sat down to discuss areas of concern from the one-wicket reverse against the Netherlands in Schiedam.

Lancashire have won two and lost one of their opening three matches in Group A and would need to finish in top spot to guarantee a place in September’s semi finals.

Victories have already come at Old Trafford against Leicestershire Foxes and Essex Eagles, with Shahzad bowling impressively for figures of 2-37 in the latter contest.

“The Holland defeat was very disappointing for us,” said the 26 year-old, who hit the winning runs in the Championship against Durham on Saturday.

“Hopefully, against Worcester on home turf, we can do the business.

“We’ve spoken about it (Netherlands), and hopefully we’ll learn from our mistakes and crack on.

“We’ve got Worcester and then Middlesex away.

“They're going to be tough games, but we’re in high spirits.”

Today’s clash against Worcestershire starts at 1.45pm.
