VEDAD Ibisevic’s agent says his client could still be open to a move to Blackburn Rovers in January – even though the Bosnian suffered disappointment over a potential Ewood switch before the closure of the transfer window.

Rovers had made Ibisevic their main striker target in the days leading up to the end of the window and had agreed a fee with German club Hoffenheim, said to have been in the region of £6m.

But they pulled out of the move late on because of concerns that the 27-year-old is currently injured.

Ibisevic is not expected to return to action for another month after tearing muscles in his thigh in training.

Steve Kean has since said that Rovers withdrew their offer because they could not carry out the stringent medical they wanted to undertake, with reports suggesting Ibisevic could not get a visa in time to travel to England for the check-up.

Kean has suggested his interest in the striker might not yet be dead and Ibisevic’s representative Andreas Sadlo has confirmed that the player has also not been put off by last week’s experience.

“A lot can happen in six months but Blackburn was an interesting club,” said Sadlo.

“We checked the club - the infrastructure, the facilities - and it is interesting for us.

“It was a possibility, there were negotiations but maybe it was not the right moment.”

Ibisevic has been linked with Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion in the past after making a huge impression in the Bundesliga with newly promoted Hoffenheim during the 2008/09 campaign.

The former Paris St Germain and Alemannia Aachen forward, who started his career in the United States and has more than 30 caps for Bosnia, scored 18 goals in 17 league games as minnows Hoffenheim shocked Germany to lead the table midway through the season.

But Ibisevic’s season ended prematurely when he tore knee ligaments and his goalscoring rate since his return has been a steadier but still respectable one in every three matches.

Kean has said that ‘complications’ also forced an end to Rovers’ bid to sign FC Dallas defender George John.

But the player’s representative Ted Philipakos has told the American press that Rovers and John still have ‘a mutual interest’ and remain in touch, leading to suggestions that a deal for the 24-year-old could also potentially be revived in January.
