BLACKBURN Rovers’ triple new signings Yakubu, Scott Dann and Jordan Slew enjoyed their first taste of action for the club yesterday in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Celtic.
The trio were all selected for the game, along with Vince Grella on his return from injury, with Rovers running out 3-1 winners.
Striker Yakubu and centre-back Dann were handed 60-minute run-outs against the Scottish Premier League outfit, while teenage forward Slew completed the full match.
The 18-year-old – who joined from Sheffield United for around £1m – was among the scorers, with Grella also netting and Jason Lowe converting a penalty.
It was Grella’s first taste of action since making an appearance in Blackburn’s Premier League Asia Trophy pre-season campaign in Hong Kong.
Both Dann and Yakubu were looking for some much-needed game-time ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash at Fulham.
