Blackburn Rovers officially named a 22-man senior squad for the first half of the season at the end of last week.

There is room technically still available for three more players, should free agents become available.

Amine Linganzi and Herold Goulon are currently not listed with squad numbers on the club’s website but were both included in the official squad, with players not included unable to play in the Premier League until January.

Nick Blackman, also on the list, is now being linked with a potential loan move to join Paolo Di Canio at Swindon.

Blackman enjoyed a productive spell on loan at Motherwell last season, scoring 10 goals in 18 appearances.

Di Canio is due to speak with Blackburn boss Steve Kean about the possibility of a loan move for the youngster when the window opens later this week.

“There is a player but it is not easy because he played in the first game in the Premier League before he had a small injury,” said Di Canio.

“A Championship side can sign him but the club are not keen to send him to a Championship side because they are worried he will not play many games.

“He can come because he has the chance to play here. I don’t promise anyone a place in the squad but if he comes I can see him playing many, many games for us.

“He is very good, he is 21, English but has had experience also of playing in Scotland, where he scored many goals, so we will see.”

A number of other Rovers players - among them Hoilett, Grant Hanley and Ruben Rochina - do not need to be named in the 22-man squad because they are aged 21 or under.
