ACCRINGTON Stanley have allowed seven players to leave following their play-off exit – with winger Chris Turner revealing that he turned down a new deal.

Turner and fellow fringe players Andy Parkinson, Rory Boulding, Jon Bateson, Andy Owens, Tom Smyth and Zak Riley are all departing.

Ian Craney is the only player currently tied to a deal for next season but 17 others have entered negotiations.

Those players are Alex Cisak, Ian Dunbavin, Phil Edwards, Sean Hessey, Dean Winnard, Joe Jacobson, Andy Procter, Peter Murphy, Leam Richardson, Alan Burton, Luke Joyce, Charlie Barnett, Ray Putterill, Sean McConville, Jimmy Ryan, Terry Gornell and Craig Lindfield.

Turner, among those to depart, is courting interest from Morecambe, Macclesfield and Darlington after rejecting reduced terms at Stanley.

“The offer was so low I couldn’t accept it,” said the 20-year-old.

“Huddersfield wanted me after my first year as a pro but I stayed with Accy. They promised I would play games but it never materialised. I had injuries, then with the change of formation they haven’t played with wingers.

“But the fans have been excellent to me. I’ve no regrets.”
