ANDREW Flintoff will continue to be synonymous with Lancashire County Cricket Club following his Test retirement - and can help take the Red Rose brand across the world.
England’s enigmatic all-rounder, who has quit Test cricket, WILL play for Lancashire next season when his schedule allows.
And while the 32-year-old will not play every game for Lancashire because of his continued England one-day duties, Old Trafford chief executive Jim Cumbes is delighted to have the biggest name cricket on the planet on his books.
“Yes, it’s fair to say that a few people may have been holding their breath when Queensland were reported to be lining up a deal worth millions of dollars,” said Cumbes.
“But Freddie has always said he wants to play for Lancashire and it his great to have him here.
“Yes, we know that he can’t play every game and his involvement in Championship cricket could also be limited but when he is here, he really is infectious.
“He is a big lad with a big personality and lifts the place on and off the field.
“It is a shame he can no longer play in Tests - but that is great news for us.
“And the other thing about having Freddie back is that he can spread the Lancashire message around the globe.
“Wherever he goes, people know that he is a Lancashire player.”
