ACCRINGTON Stanley released left back Chris King to allow them to sign Blackburn Rovers defender Johnny Flynn and Liverpool goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis before last night’s Football League loan deadline.

Stanley had their transfer embargo lifted ahead of the deadline and as expected moved to bring in Northern Ireland under 21 international Flynn.

But a second embargo restricting the club to 20 senior players meant the Reds had to release King to sign the keeper they needed as competition to their only senior stopper, Ian Dunbavin.

King had been out of contract on December 31 and had been blighted by a persistent thigh problem.

Flynn, 20, had been on loan at Chester earlier this season so is cup tied for tomorrow’s FA Cup home match aganist Barnet.

Stanley are awaiting permission for 19-year-old Bouzanis – of dual Australian and Greek nationality and on loan until January 2 like Flynn – to be involved.
